Why I built it#
Running a household with three kids in sports is a logistics problem that nobody signed up for. Three game schedules, two practice calendars, school events, doctor appointments, and a shared mental load that cracks under its own weight the moment someone forgets to mention a half-day.
FamHQ is the app I built to replace the group text, the sticky notes, and the 'can you check the calendar' conversations that happen five times a day.
What it does#
A shared family calendar that merges everyone's schedules into one view. Smart lists for groceries, packing, and chores that sync across phones. A logistics hub for carpools, practice locations, and game-day assignments.
The app is built around the idea that the mental load of running a family should be shared, not silently carried by one person. Every item can be assigned, every list is shared, and every event has an owner.
How it was built#
Built on Base44 with React. The data model is simple: family members, events, lists, and list items, with real-time sync so a change on one phone appears on every other phone immediately. The hard part wasn't the tech, it was the UX: the app has to be faster than a group text or nobody will use it.
Where it stands#
Live and in daily use. The calendar and lists are stable. Next up is a 'week ahead' summary that lands in the family chat every Sunday night, so Monday morning starts with a plan instead of a scramble.
What is inside
Shared family calendar
A single calendar that merges three kids' school, sports, and social schedules with parent work commitments. No more 'I thought you were picking them up' texts.
Smart lists
Grocery lists, packing lists, and chore lists that sync across phones. Assign items to specific family members and check them off in real time.
Logistics hub
Carpool coordination, practice locations, game times, and 'who's bringing snacks' all in one place. The operational layer of running a household with three active kids.
